For Those Who Want to Declare Refugee Status and Immigrate to the US

This is the exact wording from the executive order:

"...the United States shall promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation."

I am not a lawyer. Since all of you suffered discrimination, I would say it applies to all of you.

Here is the executive order: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/addressing-egregious-actions-of-the-republic-of-south-africa/

I found some instructions from our Customs service to help you get started: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/brochures/USCIS_Welcomes_Refugees_and_Asylees.pdf

Your best bet is to talk to the Embassies/Consulates because that's where the process starts. They can answer any questions you may have and help you do the paperwork.

This is the website of the US State Department in South Africa with a list of the Embassies and Consulates.

Everything I have given you comes from US government sites so that you get the most accurate information to help you.

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I would never steer you wrong. You are my friends.

  1. Thank you so much for the info, I'm just wondering how being disabled will influence me getting refugee status in US. I'm an Afrikaner from SA.

    1. I don't believe disability is an issue. You will have to have a medical exam. As long as you pass that, there shouldn't be an issue. What would keep you out of the US is if you have some type of disease. That's something entirely different.

Download the document I included. Follow the steps in it. Apply. There is a list of the embassies and consulates where you can take your documents. The staff will be able to answer all your questions. You'll be dealing with Americans.

  2. Is this only for people already in the states? Or can you apply from South Africa and go over from here?
